The Father’s Hands
In loving memory of my father, Leroy Otis Mead (June 20, 1953-February 4, 2026), who taught me the greatest lesson of my life: "Love Jesus with all your heart, son.” May I fulfill his desire to the fullest.
Oh son, do not forget your father
And grandson do not forget your grandfather
When age has kissed his face
And wisdom has crowned his head with silver
Look upon his hands, examine his calluses
Touch his scars and thank him
For by his labor and his sweat you now live
By his sacrifice and loving-kindness, you are established.
Do not forget, oh son
Do not forget when you hold your own child in your hands
That generations of faithful fathers helped raise you
And have called you now to be one.
